TRUMPETS IN THE SKY – Boushra, una delle ragazze siriane che raccolgono patate in Libano, torna da una lunga giornata di lavoro nei campi solo per scoprire che oggi la sua infanzia giungerà al termine.

L’autore

Rakan Mayasi è un regista, sceneggiatore e produttore indipendente, nato in Germania e residente a Bruxelles. Ha studiato cinema, teatro e psicologia in Libano e poi ha ricevuto una formazione cinematografica presso l’Asian Film Academy in Corea del Sud. Ha scritto e diretto diversi cortometraggi. Il suo film Roubama è stato selezionato ufficialmente al Locarno Film Festival nel 2012. Il suo cortometraggio Bonboné affronta il fenomeno del contrabbando di sperma palestinese dalle carceri israeliane ed è stato presentato in anteprima mondiale al Toronto International Film Festival nel 2017 – ha ricevuto il 29 Best Short Awards ai festival cinematografici internazionali, in particolare al Küstendorf Film and Music Festival e al 40° Moscow International Film Festival. Trumpets in the Sky è il suo nuovo cortometraggio che esplora il cinema come mezzo contemplativo di poesia visiva, metafora e mitologia. Il nuovo cortometraggio thriller politico/psicologico di Rakan si intitola The Key.

Rakan Mayasi is an independent filmmaker (Director, Writer & Producer), born in Germany and based in Brussels. He studied Cinema, Theatre & Psychology in Lebanon and then received film training at the Asian Film Academy in South Korea. He has written and directed several short films. His previous film Roubama was an official selection at the Locarno Film Festival in 2012. His short film Bonboné tackles the phenomenon of Palestinian sperm smuggling from Israeli jails and has world premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2017 – it is the recipient of 29 Best Short Awards at international film festivals, namely Küstendorf Film and Music Festival and the 40th Moscow International Film Festival. Trumpets in the Sky is his new short exploring Cinema as a contemplative medium of visual poetry, metaphor, and mythology. Rakan’s new political/psychological thriller short film is entitled The Key.
