TOMORROW WE CONTINUE – Nel corso del conflitto siriano, più di 100.000 persone sono scomparse o sono state detenute illegalmente. Le famiglie che si lasciano alle spalle possono trasferirsi in luoghi più sicuri come rifugiati, ma la ricerca di ciò che è accaduto ai loro cari persiste ovunque vadano. Tomorrow We Continue è un cortometraggio animato che segue la storia di una giovane madre di due figli il cui marito è stato arrestato e fatto sparire dalle forze di sicurezza in Siria alcuni anni fa. Il film ci porta nel suo viaggio come rifugiata alla ricerca di sicurezza a Berlino e, una volta sistemata, le lotte quotidiane che incontra mentre cerca di trovare un equilibrio guadagnandosi da vivere e prendendosi cura dei suoi figli continuando a cercare suo marito. Il film si basa su interviste reali alle famiglie dei dispersi, raccolte da un gruppo di organizzazioni siriane che lavorano sul campo. Il film si propone di far luce sul limbo in cui vivono molte famiglie siriane, mentre lottano per conoscere il destino dei loro cari. Sono bloccati tra andare avanti e aggrapparsi alla speranza.

TOMORROW WE CONTINUE – During the course of the Syrian conflict, more than 100,000 people have disappeared or have been illegally detained. The families they leave behind may move on to safer places as refugees, but the search for what happened to their loved ones persists wherever they go. Tomorrow We Continue is an animated short film that follows the story of a young mother of two whose husband was detained and disappeared by security forces in Syria some years ago. The film takes us on her journey as a refugee searching for safety in Berlin and, once settled, the daily struggles she encounters as she tries to find balance earning a living and caring for her children with continuing to search for her husband. The film is based on real interviews with families of the missing, collected by a group of Syrian organizations working on the ground. The film aims to shed light on the limbo in which many Syrian families live, as they struggle to learn the fate of their loved ones. They are stuck between moving on and holding on to hope.

L’autore

Abdullah Ghanem è un regista e animatore libanese. Ha conseguito un Master in Multimedia presso l’Università di Balamand – Académie Libanaise Des Beaux-Arts. Nel 2008, ha iniziato a insegnare Graphic Design e Animazione in diverse Università. È stato assegnato nel 2012 come capo del dipartimento di design presso l’American University of Culture and Education, Beirut, e ha trascorso gli ultimi 10 anni lavorando a progetti in Libano e a livello internazionale. Nel 2016, ha lavorato nella sezione motion graphics presso Music o Media Holding. È stato responsabile di presentazioni, bumper, promo, spot televisivi (regia/post produzione), cartelloni led screen e grafica led screen per eventi. Ha diretto diversi video musicali e con testi per artisti come Wael Kfoury, Mahmoud eid, Walid el hallani e Marrita. Si è occupato anche del montaggio video, degli effetti speciali, della colorazione e del ritocco. Nel 2020, Abdullah ha deciso di concentrarsi maggiormente sul lavoro da freelance e ha intrapreso diversi progetti con singoli clienti. A settembre 2020, ha avviato un progetto di cortometraggio animato in 3d con ICTJ, come generalista 3d, animatore, montatore video e regista del film.

Abdullah Ghanem is a director and animator from Lebanon. He holds a Master’s degree in Multimedia from the University of Balamand – Académie Libanaise Des Beaux-Arts. Year 2008, he started teaching Graphic Design and Animation in several Universities. He got assigned in 2012 as Head of the Design department in the American University of Culture and Education, Beirut. Abdullah spent the past decade working on projects in Lebanon and Internationally. Year 2016, he worked in the motion graphics section at Music or Media Holding. He was responsible for presentations, bumpers, promos, Tv spots (direction / post production), led screen billboards, and led screen graphics for events. Ghanem directed several Music and lyric videos for artists such as Wael Kfoury, Mahmoud eid, Walid el hallani, and Marrita. He also worked on the video editing, special effects, coloring and retouching. Year 2020, Abdullah decided to concentrate more on freelancing and took several projects with individual clients. September 2020, he started a 3d animated short film project with ICTJ. He was the 3d generalist, animator, video editor and director of the movie.
