The Boy and the Sea is a film about a family on vacation in Greece where their youngest son goes missing. They fear the worse. The film is a powerful and thought-provoking story that addresses important social issues. The film is an homage to all the children drowning in the Aegan Sea on the way to Europe.

L’autrice

Marianne Østengen è un’istruttrice di teatro e cinema. Ha studiato in Norvegia, nei Paesi Bassi e negli Stati Uniti. Per molti anni ha gestito l’Impro Theater, dove ha diretto numerosi spettacoli e tenuto workshop di recitazione per il cinema e diversi stili di recitazione teatrale. Marianne ha scritto e diretto i cortometraggi Løshår (“Parrucca”), Mamma, det er langt på dag (“Mamma, è in pieno giorno”), Mellom linjene (“Tra le righe”), Aldri mer hverdag (“Mai più giorni feriali”) e Utsikt fra et vindu (“Vista da una finestra”), realizzato in Francia con Marianne Slot e Bent Hamer. I suoi film sono stati proiettati prima dei lungometraggi nei cinema, nei festival di tutto il mondo e venduti a reti televisive internazionali.

Marianne Østengen is a trained theater and film instructor. She studied in Norway, The Netherlands and the USA. She has for many years run Impro Theater where she has directed several performances and held workshops in acting for camera and different styles of theater acting. Marianne has written and directed the short films «Løshår» («Wig»), «Mamma, det er langt på dag» («Mom, it is in the middle of the day»), «Mellom linjene» («Between the lines»), «Aldri mer hverdag» («No more weekdays») and «Utsikt fra et vindu» («View from a window») which was made in France with Marianne Slot and Bent Hamer. Her films have been screened before feature presentations in cinemas, at festivals world wide and sold to networks internationally.
