Fatima è una giovane donna siriana che non ha mai visto l’oceano, ma parla con il mare ogni giorno. È rimasta confinata nel campo profughi di Zaatari in Giordania per gran parte della sua vita. La sua immaginazione e la narrazione con il mare sono i suoi unici mezzi di fuga e libertà. Cosa succede una volta che si trova di fronte a un momento di libertà e incontra il mare nella vita reale? Seguiamo Fatima mentre viaggia in un luogo mai visto prima e incontra l’oceano per la prima volta.

Fatima is a young Syrian woman who has never seen the ocean yet speaks to the sea every day. She’s remained confined to the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan for most of her life. Her imagination and storytelling with the sea are her only means of escape and freedom. What happens once she is confronted with a moment of freedom, and meets the sea in real life? We follow Fatima as she travels to a place she has never been and meets the ocean for the first time.

Rafe Scobey-Thal è un redattore e regista che vive a New York City e crede che le storie, come le persone, abbiano il potere di cambiare conversazioni, culture e il mondo. Ha avuto il privilegio di lavorare con artisti musicali, ballerini, attivisti e marchi che spingono i confini di quali storie vengono raccontate e come vengono realizzate. Mohsin Mohi Ud Din è un artista impegnato nella narrazione, un attivista e una persona che ha vissuto gli orrori della guerra. Ha visitato oltre 20 paesi, sviluppando strumenti di narrazione innovativi destinati alle comunità emarginate e poco rappresentate. L’obiettivo è quello di aiutare queste comunità a riappropriarsi di pratiche creative nella vita quotidiana, permettendo loro di migliorare la propria salute e difendere i propri diritti umani. Per Mohsin, la narrazione rappresenta un atto di opposizione contro l’ingiustizia, l’ineguaglianza e la frammentazione sociale.

Rafe Scobey-Thal is an Editor and Director living in New York City who believes that stories, like people have the power to change conversations, cultures and the world. He’s had the privilege of working with musical artists, dancers, activists and brands pushing the boundaries of which stories are told and how they are made. By making imaginative, bold and uncompromising work he believes that art can be a productive disruptor in a world desperate for change. 

Mohsin Mohi Ud Din is an artist, storytelling activist, and survivor of war. He has traveled to more than 20 countries innovating storytelling tools for marginalized and underrepresented communities to reclaim creative practices in their daily lives so that they can advance their own health and human rights. For Mohsin, storytelling is an act of resistance to inequality, injustice, and social fragmentation.
